Retro Gaming Rants & Raves from the Game Cave:

If GameStop goes retro, where will retro go?

If GameStop goes retro, where will retro go?

If GameStop goes retro, where will retro go?

GameStop's CEO has been dropping hints that they are looking to "go retro" as a web initiative. Apparently they don't subscribe to the landfill-rule when systems & games no longer interest gamers (paying customers), so they have a moderate stockpile of older games (that really aren't all that old) to sell off. I worry how this might impact the retro market in terms of pricing and the effect on independent shops that keep retro gaming alive.

Most retro gamers will likely agree that real retro games come from the early 90's and before. GameStop's "retro" or "vintage" offerings will likely feature titles from ten tears ago - give or take a few years.

On-Screen Movie Premiere

We don't really foresee gameStop being able to succeed in a true retro market. They may develop an avenue to sell off their stock of old games, but Atari and Nintendo fans can rest easy. Can you identify the movie playing on our inset screen? Do you know the title? :)
